“PAINTING & DRAWING 2015 pt.2 featuring the works of BRENT DEDAS and EVAN FUGAZZI. Experience the brilliant use of subdued & monochromatic color in both large and small scale works from these two young artist who are beginning to attract the attention of both national & international curators alike.
EVAN FUGAZZI: I am an intuitive painter and I try to keep things as simple as I can. My paintings start with seemingly basic decisions that I make one at a time, never looking too far ahead. In this way I am attentive to what is happening on the canvas and aware of the possibilities that exist rather than trying to fit what exists to a predetermined idea of what the work should be. (Evan works out of Philadelphia, Pa.)
BRENT DEDAS: Part of my studio ritual is that of drawing-It has become a way of thinking, experimenting and exploring possibilities. In this series, the ritual of drawing itself begins by creating a history upon which to build. The first layer of history in these works on paper was created using an untraditional mark making process, laying down rusted metal and applying salt, water and various corrosives. (Brent works out of Nashville, Tn.)
