September 5, 2014 @ 5:00 am - 9:00 pm

Sarah McCartt-Jackson Poetry Reading and Book Release in the KMAC Shop

Friday, September 5

Kentucky poet, naturalist, and folklorist Sarah McCartt-Jackson was awarded a 2015 Emerging Artist Award from the Kentucky Arts Council and will serve as artist-in-residence for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for its 2014-2015 season. She also happens to be the Coordinator of Educational Programming at KMAC.
Sarah’s poetry interprets scapes (landscape, homescape, culturescape), exploring biological and cultural diversity, cultural history as embodied in tangible and intangible resources, and profound experience rooted in sanctuary and wilderness. Her first poetry collection Vein of Stone was published by Porkbelly Press (Cincinnati) in July 2014. Her work has been published by and received honors from: the Academy of American Poets, Copper Nickel, The Fourth River, Inch, Indiana Review, Journal of American Folklore, NANO Fiction, STILL, and others.
Impromptu poety readings will be given throughout the evening.

Vein of Stone is a limited-edition, hand-bound and printed book available for purchase in the KMAC Shop ($10).
