Spalding at the Speed: A Gathering of MFA and Community Writers

Spalding University’s Master of Fine Arts in Writing Program joins the Speed Art Museum for “Spalding at the Speed: A Gathering of MFA and Community Writers,” a monthly reading series that showcases short readings by Spalding MFA students, alumni, staff, and faculty, as well as writers from the local literary community. The evening opens with “Jump Start,” an open-mic session for 1 to 2 minute readings of works in progress. Attendees are invited to bring unfinished works to read. Free and open to the public.
Readers for the evening include Spalding University president Tori Murden McClure (A Pearl in the Storm); former Kentucky Poet Laureate Lee Pennington (I Knew a Woman); poet and Speed Art Museum Manager of School and Teacher programs Ashley Farmer (The Women); and poets Amy Tudor (The Professor of Bees), Annette Allen (What Vanishes), and Nettie Farris (Communion). Spalding MFA Program Director Sena Jeter Naslund emcees the event.
